Protein Shakes & A Foam Roller Workout

IMG_2355Instead of drinking coffee this Monday morning I am drinking a protein shake and heating up some water to make green tea. I also am listening to some Jazz music. Perfect Monday morning start if you ask me. I am pretty excited about my new found motivation to actually get healthy, it’s about freaking time really. Like I’ve mentioned on my other social, the last time I was really in shape was probably 6-7 years ago. So this really is long over-due.

It’s been fun trying different workouts. I finally tried Hot Power Fusion (Hot Yoga) at Core Power Yoga and fell in love, got back into lifting (yes you can lift without looking bulky), and intend on doing a few different Cycle classes (actually doing one this week). One other new workout I tried is a foam rolling workout. Now I think it’s known that foam rolling is wonderful to do for your muscles and helps break up the density in your muscles. Picture adding in a bit of Pilates and that’s what Lauren Roxburgh’s foam rolling work out event was like.

I will admit that some of the moves were a slightly painful but that’s because the density hasn’t been broken up in my muscles since it was my first time. Lauren said that if you do foam rolling consistently for a week then you’ll soon just feel good while doing it. I keep forgetting to foam roll at night so I need to get back on it soon! I loved the neck massage portion. I always have high tension in my shoulders, neck and lower skull due to being on the computer for 12-14 hours a day.

We worked with this travel foam roller that Lauren created and I don’t really feel the need to have a larger foam roller at this point.

Try it out and let me know what you think! You can buy Lauren’s book, Taller, Slimmer, Younger here and her travel foam roller here.
